These EV Charger Installation Terms apply specifically to the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charge points carried out by Danlec Electrical Solutions Ltd (โDanlecโ).
They should be read alongside Danlecโs:
- Quotation & Acceptance Terms
- Warranty & Workmanship Terms
- Privacy Policy
By accepting a quotation or proceeding with an EV charger installation, the Customer agrees to the following terms.
1. Scope of EV Installation
An EV charger installation typically includes:
- Mounting of the charge point
- Installation of cabling and containment
- Electrical protection and safety equipment
- Connection to the electrical supply
- Testing, commissioning, and certification
The exact scope is defined by the accepted quotation.
Any works not explicitly listed are excluded unless agreed in writing.
2. Electrical Supply & Earthing
EV charger installations rely on the suitability of the existing electrical supply.
Danlec is not responsible for:
- Supply limitations
- Grid instability
- DNO network issues
- Voltage fluctuations
- PEN faults or neutral disturbances originating from the supply network
Where PME / PEN fault protection is required, this will be specified in the quotation.
Danlec is responsible only for the new installation works carried out. Danlec accepts no responsibility for pre-existing defects, non-compliance, deterioration, or limitations within the existing electrical installation.
3. DNO Notifications & Supply Upgrades
Where DNO notification or approval is required, Danlec will submit the appropriate documentation. Danlec is not responsible for:
- DNO response times
- Network limitations
- Fuse upgrades
- Supply capacity restrictions
- Costs imposed by the DNO
Where supply upgrades are required, these are excluded unless expressly included in the quotation.
4. Consumer Unit & Electrical Upgrades
If upgrades to the consumer unit or electrical infrastructure are required:
- These will be quoted separately or as part of the proposal
- Existing defects or non-compliant installations may require remedial works
- Additional works discovered on-site may result in revised costs
Danlec will not energise an EV charger where doing so would be unsafe or non-compliant.
5. Customer-Supplied Chargers (CSC)
Where the Customer supplies their own EV charger:
- Danlec provides no product warranty
- Compatibility is the Customerโs responsibility
- Missing components, incorrect specifications, or incompatibility may result in additional labour or aborted visits
- Diagnostic visits for CSC-related issues are chargeable
Workmanship warranty applies only to installation works carried out by Danlec.
6. Software, Apps & Connectivity
EV chargers frequently rely on:
- Wi-Fi
- Mobile data
- Manufacturer apps and servers
Danlec is not responsible for:
- App functionality
- Firmware updates
- Connectivity issues
- Third-party software outages
- Changes to manufacturer platforms
Danlec will provide reasonable assistance at installation to configure the charger where possible.
Ongoing software support, third-party account management, or platform troubleshooting remains the responsibility of the manufacturer or service provider, although Danlec may assist at its discretion.
7. Grants & Incentives (Where Applicable)
Where grants or incentives are applied (including but not limited to OZEV, workplace charging, or other government or third-party schemes):
- Eligibility is determined solely by the relevant grant body and is subject to their criteria at the time of application
- Grant approval is not guaranteed, even where preliminary eligibility checks have been carried out
- Danlec is not responsible for delays, rejections, changes, withdrawals, or clawbacks imposed by any grant authority
- Grant values, conditions, or availability may change or be withdrawn without notice
Where a grant or incentive is declined, withdrawn, reduced, or clawed back at any stage (before or after installation), the customer remains fully liable for the full cost of the installation.
Any grant deduction shown on a quotation is conditional and applied on the assumption of successful approval. If approval is not granted, or funding is later withdrawn, Danlec reserves the right to issue a subsequent invoice for the outstanding balance equivalent to the grant amount.
8. Site Conditions & Access
The Customer must ensure:
- Safe and clear access to the work area
- Parking availability where required
- The site is free from hazards
- Suitable, permanent mounting surfaces capable of securely supporting the charger and associated cabling must be available.
EV chargers must be mounted to permanent, load-bearing structures or purpose-built posts. Fences and dry stone walls are not considered suitable mounting surfaces under industry best practice or manufacturer guidance.
Danlec reserves the right to refuse installation on surfaces deemed unsuitable for long-term support or compliance.
Delays or abortive visits caused by poor access or unsafe conditions may be chargeable.
9. Surface Finishes & Making Good
Danlec will take reasonable care during installation but is not responsible for:
- Decorative finishes
- Pre-existing damage
- Minor cosmetic marks associated with drilling or cable routing
Any making-good beyond basic reinstatement is excluded unless agreed.
10. Surge Protection & Electrical Events
Where surge protection devices (SPDs) are installed:
- SPDs are sacrificial components
- Activation does not indicate a fault
- Replacement following surge events is chargeable
Danlec accepts no liability for damage caused by:
- Lightning
- Grid surges
- DNO events
- Voltage anomalies
11. Testing, Certification & Handover
Upon completion, Danlec will:
- Test the installation
- Issue appropriate certification
- Demonstrate basic charger operation where possible
Certification applies only to works carried out by Danlec.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, final payment is due immediately upon completion of the installation.
Danlec reserves the right to withhold certification, commissioning documentation, and DNO notification submission until payment has been received in cleared funds.
12. Installation Dates & Scheduling
Installation dates are estimates only and may be affected by site conditions, DNO requirements, weather, or other factors outside Danlecโs reasonable control.
Time shall not be of the essence in respect of any installation date or completion estimate unless expressly agreed in writing.
13. Load Management & Smart Charging Behaviour
Where load management, dynamic load balancing, or smart charging functionality is installed, charging rates may automatically adjust based on property demand, grid conditions, or supplier tariffs. This does not constitute a fault.
14. Limitations of Liability
Danlec shall carry out all works with reasonable skill and care in accordance with applicable regulations.
Danlecโs total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the EV installation shall not exceed the total installation price paid.
Danlec shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss, including but not limited to:
- Loss of use
- Loss of earnings
- Increased charging costs
- Travel costs
- Vehicle downtime
- Loss of business
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot legally be excluded.
15. Governing Law
These EV Charger Installation Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
